Five Things and a twine wrapped bottle

5/03/2012

1 - Revlon 14 hour lipstick in never ending nude.

2 - My herb garden in the windowsill of our kitchen. Cilantro, basil, oregano, parsley, chives, and spearmint. Needless to say, my kitchen smells delightful!

3 - Lovely decor, the newest addition to our living room. Made from a bottle and twine.

4 - Homemade caramel popcorn. No, I am not that talented. This was given to us by a friend. It is highly addicting and delicious!

5 - Fitted T-shirts. Cute and comfy! I could live in this shirt.

And you know what this means. Drum roll please....................
The weekend is here!

Our weekend? Tonight we get to see The Five Year Engagement, tomorrow I get to see my old college roomies and finally shop at the new City Creek Center, and Sunday we get to finish our big wine bottle project! Check back for pictures of how it turns out on Monday!

Happy Friday to you all!

If you're interested, here is how I made that vase:

Twine from Hobby Lobby, $3.99. Bottle from recycling bin. Starting at the top of the bottle, I wrapped the twine tightly, adding a dab of hot glue every ten (or so) turns around the bottle. Hot glue a large dab to keep the twine together at the beginning and end of the bottle.

DIY Dot Stud Earrings

4/29/2012
Happy Sunday!

First of all, let me just state the obvious...I love Sundays. Lazy, relaxing, sunny Sundays full of family time, projects, naps and big family dinners.

I don't usually have much time to blog on weekends, but I thought I'd take advantage of J man's nap time today to write a quick hello.

Hello!

This weekend so far has been spent relaxing at home with no big plans. Which for us is a big deal and doesn't happen very often, so of course I took advantage of it and did some more projects that I found online.

One of those projects was to make my own dot stud earrings. As of late I have been doting over simple, pretty and classy studs. I love Kate Spade's, but I'm not one to spend that much on a pair of earrings. {Maybe we should save that for an anniversary present? ..hint, hint babe...} The tutorial I found online was inspired by these lovely ladies.

I got my supplies at Hobby Lobby: 6mm flat post w/clutch packet, Gemstones, and Elmer's Glue-All Max. I used some nail polish to paint colors on the gemstones, then glued them to the posts.

LIVE AND LEARN:
1. I hated that glue! Apparently I should have read the application instructions before buying it, because it's a lot more work then this project needs. I am going to find a better easier to use glue before I do some more. (I'm sure this Glue-All will come in handy one day for something else...)

And B. The gemstones worked well but truthfully I just settled for them after a long, failed search for some light wood buttons. Well thankyouverymuch, Husband just informed me that they have those at Lowe's. Wish I had asked him yesterday! Thanks lovey. Next stop, Lowe's! That way I can get studs to look exactly like Kate Spades but for under $10.

Can you say Cha-ching?!

Clean and Crafty

First of all, Happy first day of Spring! SPRING...Ahhhh just saying it makes life a little better!
The sun seriously does amazing things for me. And I'm not just talking about a nice tan. I have been motivated and happy like crazy lately! It's fabulous. I honestly don't remember having a Spring that I was so excited for.
Sometimes the sun makes me crafty. I have wanted to get a "Weekly Menu" to keep in our kitchen and help me keep track of what meals to make and what groceries to buy each week, so after some motivation from a good friend I finally made one myself!

The only thing I spent money on for this project was a dry erase marker. I used an old frame, decorative tissue paper for the background, downloaded a cute free font and cut out a few pictures from my food magazines. Ta-da!
{And if we're being completly honest, it took me a few times to spell "Spaghetti" right. Thanks to husband for pointing that one out.}

And then there is Spring cleaning. I am a tidy girl, but deep cleaning is soooo not my thing. So when I found this cleaning calander, I decided to give it a try.

We've been trying it out for a couple weeks now, and so far I'm lovin it. Instead of putting it off and doing it all at once, the cleaning is spaced out and the house always feels clean. I typed it up, framed it and hung it by the menu in the kitchen. With a few modifications for us, because we DO NOT clean on Fridays! No siree, those days are for playing only.

This along with: building more shelves in the pantry, making homemade bread every week, play time on the porch, lots of long walks and extra gym time. See, I told you we've been motivated!
Not much better then some good ol' sunshine to make life a little easier.

Freakin weekend

11/14/2011
This weekend was supa fun. Did I take any pictures? Nope! I'm such a slacker, sheesh.

Friday night was the big USU vs BYU basketball game. I was on the edge of my seat most of the game, but don't worry, USU won! Woo woo! Then Saturday I dragged Dan kicking and screaming to see the new Footloose movie. Thanks to Becky for thinking of it, if her and Jeff hadn't suggested it Dan would never have gone! But it was fabulous, I seriously loved it! If anyone wants to see it, invite me because I'll go again! And thanks to some comic relief, Dan "didn't mind it".

And last night I found an easy idea on my new favorite website {pinterest, of course}. Let me introduce you to my magnet make-up board!

This project just freed up my whole top drawer to use for other things. I can never have enough drawer space!

Go me!!
