Life lately in pictures

"After all," Anne had said to Marilla once, "I believe the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

It's amazing to me how just one week of getting behind on posting weekly pictures can really add up. I mean really, I take so many pictures that even I sometimes get annoyed with myself. Can you believe that? But here's the thing, there is no better way to hold memories than a picture, and no better keepsake from any given moment than a memory. My pictures are my journals. I am forever grateful for this day of technology where I'm able to capture these moments so terribly conveniently and literally bottle them up so that I can reminisce any time I see fit.

That being said. I sure hope you came here for an overload of pictures, because that's what you're getting today my friends!

These past couple of weeks have been especially dreamy. I'm trying not to take anything for granted these days, because it all goes so fast. Babies, four year olds, warm weather, the sun providing generous amounts of light early in the morning and late into the evening. These things are making me oh-so-very-happy and I'm just sort of absorbing them as much and as slowly as I can. At my house we have lots of ups with the occasional downs, because of course nothing is perfect, but I'm very aware these days that everything is beautiful in it's own way.

To be noted: Mister Beck had his first camping trip of the year! We pitched some tents at our cabin up the canyon with our best friends and had a grand ol' time, if not shorter a trip than we would have liked. Beck didn't sleep well but I suppose that's the kind of camping I'm going to have to get used to this year! We went through the same thing with Jace at this age, I remember that well. There's not a lot of sleep to be had when you're a baby in the wilderness, which is to be expected, I suppose. When Jace was a baby, camping was so very exhausting but yet I have some of the fondest memories from those trips. Soon I will miss this boy being a baby, and I never forget that. I will prevail! And so long as we are in the mountains with some tall pines and a good smokey fire, I really can cope with the lack of sleep. Because the rest of it is so very perfect.

Other captions for my pictures:

> Lots of bouldering at the climbing gym that will be closing this weekend. Closing is relative because I'm just sure it will remain a climbing gym, but it will be under new ownership and as we are friends with the owners, it feels like it's closing to us. But bouldering! It's my new addiction! So tough and such an adrenaline rush. I'm an addict.

> Jace sneaking into our room in the night and falling asleep in Rockie's dog bed with her. This has happened TWICE this week.

> Another 5k race, in which Jace got a medal that he was so very proud of.

> An amazingly perfect thunderstorm that blew through town last week. Do you ever just pop a big bowl of popcorn and sit on your front porch to watch thunderstorms? I don't know that there is anything more beautiful and romantic than a thunderstorm.

> Camping. Slack lining. Two peas in a pod and all that.

> Our first game of disc golf this year, in which the mom of the year award goes to me, the mom who nailed her four year old in the back of the head with a disc from forty feet out, and he hated me for a good ten minutes or more. "I'M NOT YOUR FRIEND MOM!" (pouty face for days)

> A rainy Saturday at the first Farmers Market of the season at the old courthouse, where we had a romantic stroll through a slow drizzle of rain, a delicious blueberry pancake from Stacked and stocked up on local honey, lettuce and cilantro.

> Family hike to the wind caves. Jace and his short little legs tried their hardest, but he ended up getting a piggy back and between he and his brother, dad and I got the best workout we've had in a while. Our goal is to get him to be a hiking pro by the end of the summer. Don't call social services, he loves it!

And now, may I present, our life lately in pictures! (applause)
