Florida Part Three - Sunrise and Sunset

My dream life would be to travel the world in search of the most stunning sunrises and sunsets. The very most spiritual and inspiring moments of my entire life have been while watching the sun rising or falling.

When we travel somewhere new we will always find at least one day to wake up early and watch the sunrise. I have thoroughly enjoyed every one that I have ever seen, but my top three most memorable sunrises would be:

My number one of all time was earlier this year from the top of Mount Haleakala in Maui. That beautiful moment will forever be hard to beat. My second favorite sunrise was when we paddled in our kayaks out into bear lake in the pitch dark, surrounded by water while watching the sunrise slowly and radiantly light up the sky. And I'll go ahead and add this as my third favorite sunrise, here above the vast ocean at Port Canaveral in Florida.

I once heard someone ask the question, "If your life were a piece of art, would you buy it?"

A simple definition of art is "something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings."

I constantly have that thought running circles in my head. Through the way I live my life and how earnestly I pursue my dreams. Through the people I meet and the way that I treat them. Through the way we raise our kids and the activities we pursue in our spare time. Through my stories, through writing, through pictures. Through everything that I create, everything that I accomplish, everything that I passionately perform, I do so with that thought in the back of my mind.

If your life were a piece of art, would you buy it?

I am working on creating a beautiful art filled life. Even through my heartbreak and discouragement, I find art there, far down in the depths of the pain that I feel. I think that sometimes we can encounter and construct the most beautiful art when we are completely broken.

And while I sat there on the sand with mi amor, enveloped in the peaceful early morning hours, listening to the birds gulls and inhaling the salty ocean air, taking a thousand pictures while the sun rose and with it created hues of every color throughout the boundless sky surrounding us, I had a very defining moment of knowing that this is exactly the kind of art I aspire to create and live. The kind of life that feels like this.

"Each day is born with a sunrise
and ends in a sunset, the same way we
open our eyes to see the light,
and close them to hear the dark.
You have no control over
how your story begins or ends.
But by now, you should know that
all things have an ending.
Every spark returns to darkness.
Every sound returns to silence.
And every flower returns to sleep
with the earth.
The journey of the sun
and moon is predictable.
But yours,
is your ultimate
ART."
